Friday: Milton 4, Buffalo 1 · Saturday: lost in overtime at Mississauga
Friday night at Memorial Arena, the Menace beat the Buffalo Jr. Sabres 4–1 for their seventh win in a row, with Austin McKillop making 27 saves. On Saturday in Mississauga, Milton led 3–1 midway through the third period, but the Chargers rallied late and won it in overtime. That ended the streak at seven, and it was the team’s first loss in eight games. Chris Soares scored twice, and Luca Spano scored just 1:19 into the game. The Menace are now 13–2–0–1 and still second in the West. Their road trip continues Friday, Oct. 23 in Burlington.

🌈 Sensory corners for kids who need them
A Milton mom who lost her young daughter this summer has turned her grief into something beautiful: a new foundation that creates calm, sensory-friendly spaces for autistic and neurodivergent kids in schools, places of worship and community settings. With help from teachers and fellow parents, the first sensory corner is already set up at her daughter’s school, so more little ones can feel at home there.
🍯 Grandma’s recipes, a son’s future
A Milton woman has turned her late grandmother’s recipes, from slow-cooked ghee to a golden honey once made for anyone feeling under the weather, into a small-batch food business. She runs it after her full-time job and is building it as a lasting legacy for her adult son with special needs, who now helps her make the products.

🚆 Oct. 25, 1981: the Milton GO line is born
This Week in Milton History
Forty-five years ago this Sunday, GO engine 910 broke through a ribbon to officially open the Milton GO line, giving Milton its first GO train link to Toronto. It started small, with three weekday morning trains into Union Station and three trips back. Today it’s one of GO’s busiest rail routes. A few souvenir buttons and tickets from opening day are probably still tucked away in Milton junk drawers.
