👕 The Community Closet reopens Saturday
Saturday, Oct. 17, 10am–2pm · Southside Community Church, 200 Main St. E. · Free

Good news for a lot of families: Southside Community Church’s Community Closet, a free clothing program for women, men and kids, reopens this Saturday. It’s been closed since mid-August for a major basement renovation, paid for by a $55,700 Ontario Trillium Foundation grant, and the work also fixed the church’s long-standing flooding problem. The result is a safer, more organized and more welcoming space. Regular hours stay the same, 10am to 2pm. Everyone is welcome; just create an account and book an appointment online.

🐱 A cat comes home, thanks to the neighbours

When a family’s Persian cat went missing, neighbours didn’t just share the lost-cat flyer. They helped make it better, suggesting the family add nearby cross streets so people would know where to look. It worked: the cat is home safe, and the family is grateful to everyone who pitched in.

🍔 A surprise in the drive-thru

Just before Thanksgiving, someone pulled up to the window at a local Wendy’s and found that strangers had already put $10 toward their order. A small gesture that made somebody’s whole day.

🎧 Lost headphones, found by an honest neighbour

A neighbour who found a pair of headphones put the word out and asked the owner to describe them, so they could be sure they went back to the right person. Small thing, done right.

That’s it for this week, Milton. Stay dry today, enjoy the sunshine Sunday, and if you can, swing by the Sports Centre to support Winterhawks vs Cancer. See you Monday!
