🃏 A stack of hockey cards with a second life

A local collector with a big pile of extra hockey cards offered them free to Milton kids. They’re now headed to Sunday’s Winterhawks vs Cancer fundraiser, where they’ll help raise money for Childhood Cancer Canada. One person’s duplicates, turned into something that matters.

💳 A bank card, kept safe overnight

A neighbour found a bank card left behind in an ATM. With the bank closed for the holiday, they kept it safe overnight so they could turn it in first thing the next morning, instead of leaving it for the wrong hands to find.

🛍️ Nearly 29,000 pounds of food

This fall’s Purolator Red Bag food drive in Milton is closing in on 29,000 pounds of donated food. That’s a lot of full pantries, one bag at a time. Thank you to everyone who filled one.

🥌 Oct. 15, 1965: Milton’s new curling rink opens
This Week in Milton History

Sixty-one years ago this Thursday, the Milton Curling Club officially opened its new rink, and it threw a party the way curlers do, with a two-day mixed bonspiel. The rink was very much a community effort: more than 200 locals bought debentures to help pay for it. Next time you hear rocks rumbling down the ice in town, you’ll know who to thank.

That’s it for today, Milton. Enjoy the mild Wednesday before the cool-down, and congrats to the Menace on six straight. See you Friday!
